Title: The Impact of Mindfulness-Based Interventions on Anxiety: A Meta-Analysis
Keywords: mindfulness, anxiety, meta-analysis, intervention, mental health
Abstract:
Anxiety disorders are prevalent and debilitating mental health conditions that affect a significant portion of the global population. Mindfulness-based interventions have gained increasing attention as a possible treatment option for anxiety. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of mindfulness-based interventions on anxiety outcomes. A systematic search of electronic databases was conducted, and 20 studies were included in the final analysis. Results showed that mindfulness-based interventions had a moderate effect size on reducing anxiety symptoms (d = -0.48; 95% CI [-0.62, -0.34]). Subgroup analyses demonstrated that group-based interventions and interventions with longer durations had larger effect sizes. The findings suggest that mindfulness-based interventions can be an effective treatment option for individuals with anxiety. Further research is needed to explore the optimal delivery format and duration of mindfulness-based interventions for this population.
Conclusion:
Mindfulness-based interventions demonstrate promise in reducing anxiety symptoms among individuals with anxiety disorders. The results support the use of mindfulness-based interventions as a potential treatment option for anxiety. Future studies should focus on identifying the most effective delivery format and duration of mindfulness-based interventions to optimize treatment outcomes for individuals with anxiety disorders.
